The two main waterfalls running the Andringitra range down are named Riandahy and Riambavy, designations respectively related to masculinity and femininity. According to a legend, a royal couple plagued by infertility for years, bore children only after taking a bath under the two waterfalls, as they were advised to by a soothsayer. The legend survived the centuries without dropping any shadow of credit. It has been massively contributing to entrench the respect owed by the surrounding population to the waterfalls of Andringitra deep into hearts and minds. People however no longer join the waterfalls to have children though, but merely to enjoy the beauty of the site. A circuit leading to the Riandahy and Riambavy took shape to this end. Both waterfalls are immediately visible from afar , from a few miles away from the feet of the Andringitra mountain range.
Together with the beautiful scenery, two waterfalls also make the Andringitra mountain range’s fame. The national park is definitely nowhere near to run short of assets.
