Tsolabe or the whale festival of Sainte Marie is taking place in that heavenly island from August 26 to 29, 2010. The event, which is already in its second edition, gathers at the same time cultural, sports and tourist events. Like in the precedent edition, the official opening as well as the closing ceremony of the festival will be marked by huge carnivals in which the local population and local socio-cultural associations take part. Given the number of activities intended to be performed during the festival, its organizers promised that Tsolabe will have an overloaded schedule, and thus, will provide a lot fun to all of the participants.
Some of the activities presented during the second edition of Tsolabe include football match, marathon competition, surfing, film projection, trade shows displaying local products, traditional music shows, tropical music shows featuring artists like Vaiavy Chila, Dah Mama, Tsiliva and Delphin, and roundtables focusing on the tourist and economical development of Sainte Marie. However, the most important activity which constitutes the heart of the festival is the whale safari intended to be performed on Friday, 27 which will be followed the next day by a traditional ceremony destined to call these gigantic marine mammals.
