The coffee region is full of charm. The south-east of Madagascar is rich in diversity.

Trough the South-East

The entry door towards the South-east region, with a road in bad condition, was more or less closed for a long time. It is however a region which hardly deserves indifference. As many discoveries is to be made starting from Ranomafàna towards Mananjary, Manakara and Farafangàna, until Vangaindrano. The various cities are marked by the historical exchanges with Moslems of the East and, later, with the French colonists who exploited the coffee and other cultures of revenue like the clove. South-east remained the area of the coffee in spite of a fall of the production and sale. It is undoubtedly the place where the coffee has the best taste with Mada.

The first portion of road which connects the national road 7 to the south-eastern part of Madagascar (Alakamisy Ambohimaha in Vohiparara, approximately 30 km) is in the course of rehabilitation. It?s a good thing. Except that further, between Irondro and Manakara (90 km) work is still likely to last a long time. There are the only portions of roads still in bad condition for a tour in the South-East. Other roads are completely suitable for motor vehicles.
