Unemployment: a major problem to Malagasy youth

The availability of adequate employments for its population represents the main factor in the social and economical stability of a country. For every authority wishing to work for the benefits of its population, the promotion of employment should naturally be its first concern. And in country like Madagascar, none of these is the case.

Actually, according to a survey conducted by the International Labor Office (ILO), in Madagascar, 75% of the people who consider themselves as poor describe the scarcity of employment as the main cause of their situation. What is very saddening about the situation is that 50% of the jobless people in Madagascar are young. Worse, in this high rate of joblessness, the majority of the jobless people are all intellectuals.

Hence, the government should take effective and sustainable actions in order to fight against the shortage of employment in Madagascar. For that, it must adopt effective policies that should result in the creation of employments, in the use a system of professional insertion for freshly-graduated young people and the implementation of laws tending to curb all forms of discrimination at work.
