Vanilla Islands: China as a potential market

During a recent conference held in Saint-Gilles, Reunion, members of the Vanilla Islands, including Reunion, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Mayotte, all agreed upon the prospection of a new potential market to sell tourist destinations: China. Indeed, according to a report released by the International Organization of Tourism, China will represent a highly potential market in 2020 because in that year, almost 100 million tourists will come from that country.

Currently, a Malagasy travel agency and tour operator is trying to conquer the market while collaborating with 11 Chinese tour operators. Besides, “Eductours” sessions have already been organized in Madagascar in order to kick off the long-term prospection of the Chinese market. At the same time, members of the Vanilla Islands have agreed to use all necessary means and strategies to attract Chinese tourists. Actually, the fact of making the Vanilla Islands an attractive destination for China requires a considerable amount of work, especially in marketing and publicity. Thus, in order to give more visibility to the Vanilla Islands, all communication means like Internet, newsletter, mobile applications, and documentaries will be used.
