On September 5, the World Bank will organize in its offices a seminar-workshop which will be led by its Vice-President for the Africa Region, Obiageli Ezekwesili. The workshop will be based on the theme “the role of the media in the development of a country”, and it will be attended by African press leaders, from about thirty countries, via a videoconference.
Organized with the close collaboration of African Media and the National Union of Journalists of Madagascar, the workshop is part of the implementation of the vision of the World Bank in Africa. Adopted first in March, the vision builds strong partnerships with all development stakeholders, including the media, which constitutes the primary instrument for implementing the vision of the Bank in Africa.
The workshop is intended to be a platform for exchanges on how to effectively strengthen the contribution of African media in the development of each country member. Some parts of the debate will be animated by the various participants in each country in order to enable them adopt an action plan adapted to their national realities.
