Swine flu keeps on progressing in the Malagasy capital city while attention is focused on something else.

84 confirmed cases of swine flu in Antananarivo

During the latest days, thanks to altering weather and to the first raindrops, flu has been freely spreading out. But for the Malagasy capital city’s population, this is, for the time being, not yet the major issue.

Although, since the discovery of the first case, A H1N1 flu has contaminated 84 persons in the capital city. All are only confirmed cases. About twenty people have been treated and healed. About one hundred are currently under treatment.

Most of the contaminated people have made trips abroad. A healthcare team completed a sensitization campaign at the capital city’s French high school, from where about thirty cases have just been confirmed. The same sensitization campaign will be held in various schools of Antananarivo.

In spite of the world pandemic, swine flu has not really become a cause for concern for Madagascans actually quite used to classical flu, namely at rain season’s beginnings. Sensitization spots are distributed in the press anyway. In offices and over public places, posters and leaflets stuck all around are discribing precautions, but still fail to attract the crowds’ attention.
