« You never saw anything like it, » one march organizer confided to us.
As a matter of fact, since the beginning of the Malagasy crisis, many Malagasy expatriate associations have had trouble assembling.
Last Saturday, however, close to 5,000 people, along with some twenty associations from France and Switzerland answered the call.
The banners, and streamers they carried displayed not only their support for President Ravalomanana, but also their indignation at what they view as France’s effort to preserve the old regime.
The fact that France was the last country willing to financially show her support, for the new Administration, probably acted as a catalyst or a trigger for the successful demonstration.
Leading the march was Father Pedro, a tireless activist who, several weeks ago, already denounced France’s policies.
