The partisans of ex-president Albert Zafy announce the possibility of an insurgent government if the Transition's charter is not signed before July 17th, four months after the putsch of mid-March.

Another insurgent government in a womb

The new opposition radicalizes itself little by little. The High Authority of Transition must face a fantastic situation. Ex-president Albert Zafy’s party currently furrows the Great Isle to sensitize the population on the necessity of a Transition’s charter.

During a gathering in Antsiranana (North),  Zafy’s collaborators made a dark description of the situation. They require the signature of a Transition’s charter, which will define a new power sharing between all parties as well as the « common » management of the country during a period prior to a new presidential election.

If their demand is not taken in account by the HAT, Albert Zafy’s collaborators threaten to establish another parallel government.

The « zafists » also speak, once again, of autonomous provinces. In clear, they mean the possibility to create parallel structures allowing the Great Isle’s former provinces to get their political and economic « autonomy » from the capital city. The stand is hardening and risks to poison the current political situation. Finally, could the crisis last, this would definitely mean a kind of secession.

The Albert Zafy party doesn’t go easy on it. The ex-president and his partisans refuse to recognize the effectiveness of the Transition driven by the young putschist Andry Rajoelina, as they refused, in 2002, to recognize the legitimacy of Marc Ravalomanana as president of Republic.

For Albert Zafy, the political history is a no ending cycle. For Andry Rajoelina, another » objector » enlarges the rank of those that wants his fall for good.

The situation risks in all cases to be more that comical: a government handed down from a putsch should neutralize an insurrectionary government opposed to its actions, while a Prime minister named by an elected president in exile, waits to come out from jail. A genuine political chaos.

In the same time, the Zafy camp doesn’t want to hear about any new election as long as the consensus on the management of the Transition is not defined. The HAT is yet making the organization of a pole for the end of 2009, its new creed. In the end it is just a simple wink to the international community which keeps on requiring a  » quick return to constitutional order « .
