Andry Rajoelina: « Andry Rajoelina alone decides and chooses… »

Who is using whom to defend his interests and to thwart the Maputo agreements? On one hand, Andry Rajoelina is using his allies and partisans to make them say what he’ll have to state. On the other hand, the Forces of Change alliance is using Andry Rajoelina to preserve its seats and gains in de facto transitional regime. In all cases, the Rajoelina mobility has plenty of team players. The answer to be given to the ICG is being set: « No « . 

The transition’s chief is invigorated by the support displayed by his partisans. « Andry Rajoelina alone decides and chooses those who are going to work with him and not the three other mobilities « , he said about himself. He is naturally hinting the Transition’s Prime minister’s job which constituted the blocking factor during Maputo II. 

So Andry Rajoelina is more and more showing that he is going to refuse the consensus with the other political mobilities. To save the appearances, the transition’s chief is trying to make his regime look a wee bit more inclusive. He is directly addressing the « politicians of good will », inviting them to be part of the state machine, and to serve beyond the political mobility concept. As far as the TGV and the supporting Forces of change are concerned, the other mobilities must do with what Andry Rajoelina is consenting to leave to them. 

In front of his partisans, the 2009 popular movement leader promised a firm and categorical decision. He is preparing the opinion to a likely refusal of the Maputo agreements, as he is yearning to keep the control of power during the period of transition, even if it kills him. Without ever pronouncing his name, the president of the transition is defending a Prime minister that he can’t anyway let down. 

The pressure exerted by the Forces of change, fiercely defending the gains from the power takeover by force and street protests, is making itself heavier than ever. This coalition is regrouping political parties that benefited from the first role distribution after the putsch of March 2009. Prime minister Monja Roindefo is this role distribution’s corner stone. If he falls, the Forces of Change ranks would support unprecedented casualties.
