The statement to the nation produced by Andry Rajoelina failed from delivering anything of the political crisis' resolution process in Madagascar. The young transitional authorities' leader only recovered his good old song on the national sovereignty, and insisted on the organization of election in view of his constituent and legislative assembly. He subsequently strained to rally the other mobilities members to his anti Maputo Charter scheme by a double stand.

Andry Rajoelina is putting a small opening forth as a cover up for his unilateral strategy

It was basically about drafting the HAT members’ blunt declarations in a more counselling way for TV. The citizens had, however, the right to expect more from a statement in the nation. Andry Rajoelina keeps on challenging the international Contact Group by straining to reduce this representation of the international community to the African Union. Then he referred to the international human rights in order to introduce his performance on the national sovereignty topic, as an excuse to do away with foreign nations and institutions’ recommendations. « Madagascar belongs to the Malagasy! » and so on…

In the end, the HAT leader definitely confirmed his intentions to do away with the Maputo Charter together with the Addis Ababa additional act, and to keep on with his personal roadmap . « The change has to be defended for having been paid by lives and blood », he argued as echoing his political mobility’s most extremist views. Andry continuous Rajoelina kept on with his pleading: « in one year, there has been mediation, and signed agreements… we unsuccessfully tried to put some institutions in place », he reminded. For the umpteenth time, he repeated that huge things have been conceded for the sake of a vain cohabitation.

It is the right moment for national sovereignty based propaganda: « The time to take our responsibilities has come, the Malagasy people don’t deserve the psychological torture coming from inside or from outside the country ». Andry Rajoelina was certainly referring to the pending sanction threats while recalling the African representatives’ words: « even the ICG mediators are convinced that only elections will be the pledge for a return to constitutional order « . The message’s first half is obviously and voluntarily dropped by the dictating authorities’ leader since the same group is requiring a national unity Transition and a national unity government prior to any vote. « Elections are the single solution to end the crisis, we are going to return the power to the people « , repeated Andry Rajoelina.

« I am convinced that the solution will be found between Malagasy… On this account, I am inviting the political forces and the civil society to March 4th and 5th 2010’s debate ». This event is announced as a compromise debate for lack of a genuine national conference organized by an inclusive Transition’s eluding national unity government. The goal remains the same: more inclusion make-up, more consensual cover up for unilateral elections. « Not only the HAT or the other mobilities, but all parties are invited to contribute to the effort. We are bound to do what it takes to make these elections clean, and to lower political tensions » and so on…

Andry Rajoelina would have understood that debating on a issue without final outcome is better that making a decision without debating. He promised the erection of the independent national electoral Commission, an institution included in the Maputo Charter, as a pledge of good will. In order to seduce the international community, the dictating authority’s leader tried to rally the three other mobilities’ members. « Until the elections, we are ready to open institutions’ doors to the other political forces for the sake of a joint management of the transition », said Andry Rajoelina after Roland Ratsiraka. « We are the ones making our country’s destiny by our own decisions » repeated the HAT leader. And then came up the usual call upon evidences of patriotism for the sake of the nation’s supreme interest against selfishness. A message, however, remains duly entitled to his own camp constantly straining to lock the power.
