The MTS party's president believes that this constitutional draft must be corrected

Roland Ratsiraka: I’m not satisfied by this constitutional draft

So read his declarations made to reporters on Monday, October 4th in his office in Toamasina: « I’m far from completely satisfied by the constitutional draft, only the decentralized province is a cause for jubilation ». He subsequently expressed his concerns, could this draft be approved by the popular voting process: « this draft is going to produce a struggle between the president and his prime minister ». Then he emphasized his point concerning the draft’s article number 54 as following: « the president would not be entitled to order the police forces in case of civilian trouble, but would have to ask for their approval, in other words, the police forces are the real ones deciding ». And he concluded straight away that this draft, could it be passed or not, would require corrections even after the referendum. His point would have already been communicated to the transitional leader.

The MTS party is intending to run the incoming successive elections

How on earth could any of our contributions to national development be coming into completion, if the MTS party is not running the elections? asked Roland Ratsiraka, transitional vice president and the MTS party’s leader all the way. He definitely confirmed that the MTS party would present candidates for all of the incoming elections,
