the SADC´s Troika: confused and confusing statement

The statement produced by the SADC´s troika concerning the Malagasy crisis was confused and confusing, just as Leonardo Simao´s draft. Nothing has apparently been evolving since the latest two years since  » only the same old decisions taken in March 2009 concerning the restoration of constitutional order in Madagascar have been reiterated « . Is being wished the erection of a democratic transition with consensual and inclusive bases with institutions able to pledge and conduct the organization of free, transparent elections accepted by all. 

After a look at the report made by the SADC´s envoy, the troika merely observed that a roadmap draft has been reached for the sake of driving the country back to constitutional normality « . The HAT-TGV regime is holding it as an acceptation of the so named national unity government built by its Prime minister together with the Rajoelina sphere´s allies. Indeed, there was no opened rejection yet. The SADC´s troika of the SADC has actually not yet expressed anything from the eventual condemnation of the Vital II government’s. 

« The Summit committs into the protection of the gains of the mediation process « , which is being interpreted like a blessing for the accomplished fact and the internal unity government. 

Besides, the troika « called upon all political parties to cooperate and jointly support the SADC´s Mediation for the sake of reaching free, fair and believable elections « . Only the parties signed Dr. Simao´s draft would be concerned although this declaration would cast spheres aside. 

Of course, the opposition´s three spheres are not having it this way. The Zafy sphere recalled that the ruling government was in no way clearly accepted, and called upon the Malagasy to focus on consensus and inclusiveness. 

To this end, it emphasized that a summit between sphere leaders was compulsory in order to end the crisis. Albert Zafy satiricly argued that the HAT was an expired régime since neither the CAPSTAT base camp nor the HCC had been renewing its mandate since two years. 

The Ravalomanana outlined that the fake consensus patched up by the Rajoelina sphere didn´t even match international standards of constitutional order recovery. President Ravalomanana predicted that the troika would not grant international recognition to Andry Rajoelina´s fake national unity government. 

« the Summit clearly displayed the need to keep Malagasy dialogue going on a path of consensus, national unity and transparency « . The single one decision taken by the SADC´s troika was in the end « the recommendation of an extraordinary Summit in order to address the report about Madagascar furthermore ».
