The four mobilities displayed their diverging stands on the eve of the "second" last chance meeting to be held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. For the Rajoelina and Zafy sides, it's a done deal. The Ratsiraka mobility argues that everything can still be negotiated. And the Ravalomanana mobility is intending to do it all over again.

Addis Ababa : four mobilities totally opposed to each other from scratch

The talks in Addis Ababa will be based on two radically opposed positions. Andry Rajoelina claims to have the upper edge in the balance and, hencefoth, the Transition’s Presidency « as a matter of fact ». Thus, he wants to monopolize all of the relevant ministries and grant some left overs to independent nominees, weakening by so doing the other mobilities. This scheme is naturally emerging from the first agreements established in Maputo.

« We conceded enough, it is no more our turn to keep on doing so », insisted Andry Rajoelina. « There is a key ministry, which I will not mention yet, that we will never ever let off, since it could jeopardize the transitional regime’s stability « . Andry Rajoelina pretends to have any veto right over the choice proposed by the other mobilities. « We are looking for clean figures able to tackle the job immediately and not intending to create trouble », argued Andry Rajoelina. The TGV is visibly keen to avoid cohabitation in the government, and puts forth his so-said care for efficiency as an excuse.

For the Ravalomanana mobility, turning down the idea according to which everything is a done deal remains the most important thing. « The assessment operated by the International Contact Group on October 06 has decided nothing », confirmed Mamy Rakotoarivelo. « The designations of the president, the vice-president and the Prime minister are back to the starting line up ». Fetison Andrianirina appeared less radical and expects a satisfying outcome to this unwanted crisis which divides the Malagasy people.  « Each mobility has its expectations, but we will try to find solutions », he added.

The Zafy mobility is rather satisfied with the Transition’s forthcoming configuration. The  former president recognizes that the present situation is wee bit troubled since the different mobilities are displaying their opposition. « things can move forward if everybody follows what has been agreed from Maputo I and II and at the end of the meeting of  October 06th », he expected. The Zafy side is rather privileged in the role distribution between the four mobilities for having been granted the transitional vice-presidency and the presidency of the National Council of Reconciliation.

The Ratsiraka mobility is not that bad either. Prime minister Eugene Mangalaza welcomed Andry Rajoelina in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is more that a sign of recognition, the Mangalaza-Rajoelina duet still has to play in defense though. According to Mrs Ramisandrazana, former candidate to the Prime minister’s seat from the Ratsiraka mobility, nothing is to be taken for granted yet. « Our expectations are not yet fully met » she declared, and emphasized that « October 06th was only a starting point; no mobility must be left behind ». She conceded that negotiations are still opened. « Is everything 90% taken for granted, as some are telling them to be, why on earth making for Ethiopia? It would then be a waste of money ». Addis Ababa will definitely be everything but a simple formality.
