Andry Rajoelina: an inconvenient support to Hery Rajaonarimampianina

Hery Rajaonarimampianina would have gladly done without this declaration produced by Andry Rajoelina to the LE MONDE newsgroup’s special correspondant: “… I have been supporting Hery Rajaonarimampianina in the background. So have my ministers and I have seen to it that our support capitalizes. In the second round, the stands are clear: Hery Rajaonarimampianina is the Rajoelina sphere’s official champion.” The former transitional finance minister actually feels it as an embarrassing blow for having declared himself that “the transitional president is expected to remain neutral, in accordance with the crisis settlement roadmap.” Andry Rajoelina’s active support to Hery Rajaonarimampianina was little more than an opened secret at the least to the other presidential candidates. This declaration from the transitional leader only busted what was left of its secrecy. This blunder is even more inconvenient to Rajaonarimampianina’s staff, considering that the Special Electoral Court’s judges are not yet completely done with the charges held against him and the request for him to get knocked out. The use of state assets and hardware for personal purpose in the run of elections is actually a very punishable offence. Some opposition members replied that Hery Rajaonarimampianina must have expected more of the transitional leader’s financial support instead of such a public boast.
