The style amazes more than one. The young president of the Transition launches a seduction operation in the capital city to sink his tenacious predecessor in oblivion.

Andry Rajoelina on Marc Ravalomanana’s footsteps

Streets to rehabilitate; Garbage to remove in five days; And the Capital City Council building to inaugurate within a year from now. Andry Rajoelina does his best to show that the Transitional Power is in control and does care about the population’s daily life.

The president of the High Authority of Transition actually resumes the reconquest of the tananarivian public opinion after five months of political crisis. He visited the City Council’s job site which has been struggling to restart since already a year. In company of some of his collaborators, Andry Rajoelina has let known that this job would be completed within a year. He also made for the road axis of Ankasina, in quite poor estate, which shall be repaired before long.

At the same time, Andry Rajoelina called to order the communal authorities of Antananarivo which have been failing to get the city rid of garbage in time for the latest weeks. Different people in charge have been ordered to clean Antananarivo city out and to make it more dazzling within 5 days.

The transitional regime’s target is to do so that the population’s everyday life returns to normal. Moreover it is indeed about avoiding showing up how blocked the situation is. To do so, Andry Rajoelina and his team had to use methods which somehow remind those of their predecessor with only different actors

Now that the exiled president Marc Ravalomanana seems more and more determined to return, the Transition Team had to react to demonstrate to the public that the management of the country is in someone else’s grip. It was also about displaying a kind wink at those of the capital city who do not give in to sirens. The announcement of Marc Ravalomanana’s likely return to Madagascar before National Day’s June 26th actually worries the members of the High Authority of Transition. The time had to come for Andry Rajoelina to confess that the Transition had “so far only been stemming the tide of the crisis”.

The defenders of legality actually only speak out about “preparing Marc Ravalomanana’s return”. A matter of fact which compels the transitional leaders to demonstrate how they keep the situation under control
