A replacement squad in for the South

Some 300 soldiers headed to the South to take over from the fighting forces in action since a little longer than one month. The mission remains the same: fighting the Dahalo raids off, securing zebu flocks, putting their grip on Remenabila, the Dahalo hords’ main leader, definitely remaining a ghost in spite of the arrest of some of his relatives. Not even the substantial reward for his head proves enough to tipp the scales Read More »

Alain Ramaroson, two steps from swapping sides again

The Security Department’s number one at the Transitional Superior Council is increasingly falling out with the regime’s führer Andry Rajoelina. Alain Ramaroson used to be one of the putsch’s main masterminds by the beginning of 2009. Three years later, he is on the brink of joining the opposition’s ranks. The dispute originated from his niece’s death. Nadine Ramaroson was the transitional minister in charge of the Population Department and died when her boat tragically capsized in 2010. Alain Ramaroson remains firmly convinced that it was a murder, and progressively started to bother the ruling power. His home was recently searched as a response. The state police officials who used to support him were respectfully forced to step down, the latest of them being the national state police’s now former number one, namely general Bruno Razafindrakoto, famed for his close links to Alain Ramaroson. All of these events are components for a single one canvas. Tensions are in no way going down. Alain Ramaroson retaliates with a threat, namely unveiling highly inconvenient details about January, 26th 2009. On that day, several dozens of lives were claimed by strife and lootings as Andry Rajoelina was spurring on mobs on the capital city’s streets. To be continued. Read More »

The Opposition member Manoela reported the death of five policemen shot down in Betroka

The police forces still appear quite reluctant to confirm the information. The political opposition keeps on confirming that five policemen would have been shot dead by Dahalo militiamen in Betroka, in the southern part of the country, in the run of the special forces’ latest large scale search and destroy operation. Inside the Magro square, during a meeting with Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters, Manoela, the passionate animator coming from the South, did not mince his words. “the ruling power will never concede that police officers keep on dying” he said. The composition of the Reconciliation Council published

The preparation committee appointed the 44 members of the National Reconciliation Council, locally named Filankevitry ny Fampihavanana Malagasy (FFM). Some names are famed across the island, for example the parson Ramino Paul, Nestor Razafindramanitra and Lalao Randriamampionona. Observers are however not optimistic for so much. Many attempts to settle the political crisis engulfing Madagascar have repeatedly fallen through. Even former president Albert Zafy, who has been advocating national reconciliation for the latest decade in Madagascar, got cast aside from the crisis settlement process. This front stage was granted to three groups from the civil society: the Finoana, the Raiamandreny Mijoro and the CNOSC Read More »

Rajoelina finally in for the United Nations’ General Assembly

The transitional leader was allowed to leave the country in the evening of September 20th to attend the United Nations’ General Assembly. The United States have been denying him entry to the eleventh hour, since the transitional leader wanted to meet in Washington D.C. the few parliamentarians part of the Congressional Black Caucus group supporting him. The United States did not contribute to make it easy at all. Not a single one of his delegation members was allowed to enter the US territory. As for Andry Rajoelina himself, he has no right to enter a 40 m² wide square surrounding the United Nations’ building… and would do well not to lightly dare the odds Read More »
