The army puts pressure on Rajoelina

The armed forces´ leadership would have liked the leader of the HAT to issue a NOTAM against Marc Ravalomanana quite earlier. The army´s top command publicly stood against this comeback, and being challenged was not to its liking. It, which was basically supposed to be neutral, has put pressure on a Rajoelina forced once again to violate the road map. Lire la suite »

Aborted come back for President Ravalomanana: a NOTAM again

The Airlink airways´ aircraft with Marc Ravalomanana on board broke its course over the Mozambique Channel as the pilot was not allowed to land in with the exiled president on board. A ban personally issued by the leader of the HAT popped up. The Communication Minister poorly tried to save the face, and the resulting strange contradiction conveyed irony throughout the web. He declared that the aircraft would have been ordered to land in on another airfield so that police forces are able to conduct proper arrest. The NOTAM was however definitely issued and denied the right to land in on any of the island´s airfields to the aircraft. Lire la suite »

Marc Ravalomanana, finally back, is he?

Excitement, fear, joy, anger, provocation, threat ... the exiled president Marc Ravalomanana´s pending return home happens to be unusually stirring nerves. Everything will depend on the implementation of the roadmap and on the reaction of the HAT´s forces. The Ravalomanana sphere promises peaceful settlement, while Andry Rajoelina addressed not that long ago a potential "hurricane" likely to undermine his power and his followers´ interests by the same way. One casualty in Ambohijatovo, namely democracy

The Andry Rajoelina dying for the role of defender of democracy proved to be its predator. His argument aimed at preventing the opponents from celebrating the opening of the forbidden place of democracy happened to be a prediction. "Has anyone´s death justified any ceremony with a bunch of flowers?” On January 17th, 2012, he looked after the casualty: Democracy is dead in Madagascar! Lire la suite »

Greetings in Iavoloha: roadmap and elections

The first of the four greeting ceremonies held in Iavoloha recalled that Madagascar is still fully engulfed in an institutional political crisis. The gap is turning into a gulch between a transitional leader holding the roadmap as a launching pad for his presidential campaign for granted, and two other institution chiefs pushing for appeasement and for the true implementation of the roadmap. All of them however agree on the fact that some free and transparent elections should take place in 2012. Lire la suite »

The need to reshuffle the CENI is widely accepted

The corrupted implementation of the transitional roadmap generates a chaotic and confused political situation. Efforts to restore a genuine independent national electoral commission are still being attempted though. In order to avoid the resumption of mistakes and blunders committed by the HAT´s electoral commission, parties are seemingly agreeing on the reshuffle of the next transitional component. CENI, the right one after the rough draft

The HAT´s electoral commission is on the way to make place for the genuine independent national electoral commission. The referendum of November 17th, 2010 was a limited internal political success, for Andry Rajoelina his imposed power for being merely locally " legalized" for eternity. For the CENI, this first popular test ended as a crash. The erection of the new commission is expected to draw lessons from this failure. Lire la suite »

Andry Rajoelina´s look back on the year 2011

The transitional leader turned out a very personal look back on the year 2011 when holding it as the year of the recovery of international recognition. He pointed at the opposition´s politicians, blaming them for the" dirty atmosphere" undergone by Madagascans. The leader of an imposed regime actually had to bear the opposition constantly standing on his way, and praises now his own devotion which arguably put an end to the crisis. Lire la suite »

2011: Republic of transition in Madagascar

Are we in a transition or already in the 4th Republic? The one-sided referendum and the personal constitution patched up by and for the president of the HAT have been killed by the crisis settlement roadmap. Once again through the HCC, Andry Rajoelina tries to make believe that his Constitution is above the transition´s law, namely the roadmap. The partial and corrupted implement of the roadmap changed the political crisis´ face without settling it in anything. Lire la suite »

2011, the crisis settlement roadmap,

The year 2011 in Madagascar had a lot of political ups and downs. The crisis developed on many foreign battlegrounds, but its settlement process agreement was signed in the end in Antananarivo on September 17th. For lack of common ground concerning this agreement´s interpretation allowed the HAT to implement it its own way. The opposition´s spheres integrated the process, although denouncing the Rajoelina regime´s unilateral policy as well as the lack of transitional national unity. The look back coming up.
