Andry Rajoelina is not the lone decision maker. The retreat operated by the president of the Authority of Transition has been positively welcomed by his allies and supporters. The TGV wants consultation with the militants because some currently acting officials are very likely to be dropped by the end of the Maputo stage.

Rajoelina mobility: the TGV people is going to decide of Maputo II’s outcome

The call for a retreat, rather than making further more concessions, has been caught up by Andry Rajoelina. The young president of the HAT has been cheered, when returning from Maputo, for not having swerved from what his allies, grouped within the Forces for Change, are claiming on behalf of the people.

« Not only a single one’s opinion should be held in account… this is the purpose of our request for time presented to the ICG, we would like to think over a solution together » declared Andry Rajoelina at the Ivato airport.

The one that took the power by street protests and military insurgency isn’t keen on dropping as so easily his friend appointed Prime minister on the May 13th Place. « There will be dialogue with the participants to the popular struggle, with everybody, before making a decision », explained Andry Rajoelina.

The debate concerning the Prime minister’s seat had thwarted the negotiations in Maputo. Monja Roindefo defended his trophy, trying to convince the mediation joint team with documents proving his endorsement by political forces in Madagascar.

« Could the people accept to give the Prime minister’s job to the Ratsiraka mobility; I would not oppose it, otherwise… » The transitional government’s Prime Minister is quite keen on retaining his job. Monja Roindefo has already been in for a campaign to such an end, by asking for the Constitutional Court’s opinion, then by claiming loud that he, and no one else, is already the Prime Minister of consensus.

During Maputo II, Andry Rajoelina is his mobility came in conquerors, insured of their gains. The president of the HAT got his plans firmly contested. « The objective is to lead the Transition together with the others without questioning the Transition’s presidency again », it had declared on the fringe of negotiations.

The Andry Rajoelina mobility is denying to have generated the blocking factor at the time of Maputo II. Norbert Ratsirahonana, member of the HAT, is considering the combination Rajoelina-Monja Roindefo as to be remaining undisputed. Nadine Ramaroson, minister of the population, is telling about « all sorts of blackmail, threats of sanction, financial help suspensions » put forth during the negotiations.

In Maputo, the Rajoelina mobility had two choices. The first keeps it on top of the Transition and concedes the Prime minister’s job to the Ratsiraka mobility. The second keeps Monja Roindefo as the government’s Prime minister but ejects Andry Rajoelina for the sake of a « neutral » Transition’s president. Is the TGV going to sacrifice himself or sacrifice his Prime minister? The answer will be known within one week.
