Madonline (M): your assessment of the national situation?.
Rasamimaka Mahefalahy (RM): The country is in a real mess. The Malagasy people’s life was not that under the former president Marc Ravalomanana. Spending power is plummeting, money is going scarcer, even we law experts are noticing a certain reduction of our market. Democracy is simply going deeper underground, politically speaking, in this country. Our society is turning into a subject and lords’ society, the lords being nobody else but the HAT
M: the constitution’s draft is currently being made a central point, how do you assess it?
RM: the 4th Republic is in no way a solution, according to me. The 3rd Republic simply needs to be patched up. There are consequently no needs to change Madagascar’s constitution. There have been many kinds of constitution applied for Madagascar. According to me, none of them is matching our expectations as well as the 3rd Republic’s one. There is no need to remove the constitution, leaders have to be removed. The HAT is wasting time and money by drafting a new constitution. The most amazing side of the HAT move is that, historically speaking, no one has ever dared to shout loud on the place of May 13th that a constitutional text was wrong. The HAT is having unfolded incentives
M: does the international community recognize the HAT?
RM: There’s never been any recognition from the international community. Two or three countries do not make it? Far from enough. Had they been the G20 or various international unions like the European Union, things would have been different.
M: Any kind of solution from you?
RM: We Madagascans failed from settling the issue, be it the FFKM related ones, let us recover Pretoria then, let us let the SADC and various international groups contribute to the effort. We, from the Marc Ravalomanana and Madagasikara mobilities, are still bound to engage talks. The real issue’s hardcore is the French political will to dominate Madagascar.
M: a message?
RM: God’s hand acted, even if Pharaoh persecuted Israel’s sons. In the same way, the Malagasy people will be freed from the HAT yoke. Do please let me praise the efforts pledge by the expatriated community beside the Marc Ravalomanana and Madagascar mobilities, as a tribute to the GTT international and its followers to whom Toamasina is connected through the GTT radio station and internet as well as through the common will to fight the authoritarian rule in Madagascar.
