Accepting to keep away from contesting the Transition’s presidency has been a major concession from the Marc Ravalomanana mobility. It is, thus, proposing a presidency to be given to someone from the Albert Zafy or Ratsiraka camps. « The Ravalomanana mobility will never accept to legitimize Andry Rajoelina as president of the Transition », said the ousted president. « We are not keen on making a bad example of Madagascar, either on the African continent, nor within the SADC « .
Confirming Andry Rajoelina, who self proclaimed after ousting the elected president, is absolutely off the point. « He operated a putsch in Madagascar; many countries throughout the world have condemned it. Deciding to appoint him as president would amount to betrayal of the international community », explained Marc Ravalomanana. The fallen president is sticking to a simple principle: « whoever takes power over by force must not be legitimized « .
Regarding the events of the year 2009, the Ravalomanana camp is judging that the Rajoelina mobility’s Prime minister Monja Roindefo must be kept in charge. It is, thus, proposing the more classical scheme of coexistence and government change following a political crisis, even though the putsch is a done deal.
« We are in the dead end, we are compelled to stop the negotiations », regretted Marc Ravalomanana at the end of the Maputo II session. Displeased for not reaching a consensus about the Transition’s presidency, he didn’t hide his disappointment. « We are not satisfied with this result « , he concluded.
Rapelanoro, a MFM party member of the Ravalomanana mobility, is more optimistic. The discussions of Maputo were well engaged, he said, specifying that the goal was a consensus and not a compromise. He noticed that « The wound is still open; there is still some spite ».
For Fetison Andrianirina, the delegation chief, the main point is that « there have been decided things, there’s progress on those topics ». He stated then, that the distribution of all three key roles within the Transition will be determined after the Rajoelina mobility’s skull session. The Ravalomanana mobility is recommending a solution suited to everybody to come out of from the present political crisis.
« No more non democratic power change! » According to the Ravalomanana mobility, « now is the time to turn one history page ». « It is not hatred towards the Rajoelina mobility, but we have to say it loud that, power is no more conquered from the street in Madagascar », insisted Fetison Andrianirina.
