The minister of the Communication is naturally the HAT government's first member to react and condemn the police led brutality against the Frequence Plus radio station's facilities. Nathalie Rabe is keen on displaying evidences of solidarity with the Malagasy reporters' guild and even denounced the increasing violence against the press.

State led violence against reporters, the world of press is getting a move on

The young minister was not economic with words when openly denouncing the perpetrated violence in the run of an arrest operation targeting a political opponent within a private radio station’s studio, while carefully making sure to refrain from engaging any of  her personal views. “The ministry condemns the violence perpetrated against reporters and technicians, as well as the destruction of the hardware paramount to their job” she solemnly declared. “The ministry displayed concerns for citizens’ right to information “. Nathalie Rabe is straining to become the icon standing tall to violence against reporters and against the reporting profession. The minister found a way to put the message through by making a partner of the association of reporters. “These are your raiamandreny “, she underlined, for putting her money on these elders’ neutrality, some of them still being active. After an emergency meeting with the editors in chief on  Monday May 17th, 2010, the minister is displaying a will to unite the associations of journalists in order to build strategies to struggle against violence directed at the press in Madagascar. Miss Rabe didn’t address the order of Journalists currently unrecognized by the HAT. The scoop of the day was the live radio broadcasted statement produced by Ruffin Rakotomaharo on the national radio waves as president of this extinct order. Since not any other election has yet been organized, he is theoretically still acting. President Ruffin Rakotomaharo officially condemned this use of violence against journalists. “There has been being many similar cases since the beginning of this crisis “, he underlined. “Reporters are only providing the necessary fertilizer to the democracy’s growth “, added the president of an order raised back to life again. The national Radio channel took advantage from this occasion to emphasize its neutrality concerning information processing. “Reporters are not supportive of their political guests”, added Ruffin Rakotomaharo. The RNM director, Johary Ravoajanahary, got the statement jointly produced by several editors in chief and by the united journalists in Anosy. The declaration condemned the use of violence within Frequence Plus radio station’s facilities against reporters and technicians. The statement is also including some demands. Reporters are “calling upon clear explanations from those who gave the order, accelerated investigations, respect for reporters’ rights, as well as for the citizens’ rights to be duly informed, and a halt to violence targeting and threatening reporters “. A wind of solidarity is blowing within a guild earlier polarized by bosses political orientations. The minister of Communication subsequently encouraged reporters to claim their independence. “Let your solidarity overtake your allegiance for any political mobility “, suggested Nathalie Rabe. The decidedly mobilized young minister gave a particular advice to reporters. “If you look for a perfect neutrality, do call upon the Republic’s Mediator’s led erection of an independent investigation commission “. The Frequence Plus radio station’s officials turned the proposal down by declaring their trust in… justice.
