The dictatorial transition restored, cohabitation officially impossible

The Maputo III meeting is the official pretext put forth by HAT to withdraw form the inclusive and consensual transition diagram imposed by the international community in exchange of recognition and financial support. « The resolutions of Maputo III rule Andry Rajoelina out of power definitely », declared Andry Rajoelina. « Ministries were being distributed as toys ». The propaganda machine proves well lubricated: « In order to defend national sovereignty, because the transitional leader is young, one does not accept the construction of a government to be completed abroad ». Nobody actually ever hinted to erect any Mangalaza government in Maputo. The meeting between the three mobilities has been addressing the national unity government’s roles distribution key. The review of the presidential council’s operating mode has been challenged by an Andry Rajoelina claiming loud that there is only « one president, one Guide ». He confirmed his refusal to grant the Co Presidents either access to the presidential palace, or human and financial resources equivalent to those of the president. He denounced « ill-will from those who strain to rule the country in a mindset of revenge and hatred ». The speech is quite irrational, but serves rather well its main goal: punch the citizens’ hearts and minds glued to TV and radios. « It is the love that pushed me to become president of the transition… When one has love, one always finds a solution! ». « The lack of love within the three mobilities was flagrant » his Holiness dixit. Andry Rajoelina appeared a wee bit more realistic when it came to justify the definitive breakdown of the inclusive and consensual transitional process. He presented the letter addressed by the other institutions’ chiefs to the Danish Prime minister, letter which hampered « his » participation to the world summit on climate change held in Copenhagen, Denmark. « It is a shame and a slander for Madagascar, they violated the Maputo agreements », unleashed Andry Rajoelina. The response to this « personal » affront is decisive: « I confirm that it is difficult and impossible to build a national unity government this way ». The necessary political truce in this period of celebrations has been used as an excuse by the HAT to postpone the meeting between the four mobilities, desperately organized by the International Contact Group in Antananarivo for December 17th. « December 25th is Jesus’ birthday, let’s let people celebrate « , argued the transitional chief. The 25 politicians, exiled by force, and the other individuals lawful to them, will be deprived of family celebrations. Andry Rajoelina is carefully making sure to appear as clean as a new born baby in face of the arbitrary and controversial measures denying access to home soil to those involved in Maputo III, and to air space to African countries’ originated flights. « The ministers are free to act as they want, Andry Rajoelina never dictates anything ». Somehow, the president of the HAT is generously leaving the dirty jobs and the flaws to his ministers’ backs.
