As expected, the High Authority of Transition decided to forbid the gatherings of the exiled president's partisans.

The HAT forbids the demonstrations of the pro-Ravalomanana

The High Authority of Transition didn’t wait for too long before reaching its final objective. After the boycott of resuming negotiations in Addis-Ababa, the HAT has, without surprise, decided to forbid the rallies of Marc Ravalomanana’s supporters, accused of “terrorism” after the discovery of some hand made bombs in the capital city.

The few 40 members of the HAT invited the government to take the necessary measures to forbid the daily gathering on the private Magro place, in Ankorondrano.

This proposition means that public meetings will therefore be, once again, repressed by the police forces.

At this rhythm, the HAT is winning its bet: arresting the “legalistic” leaders who keep on defending the exiled president’s cause, and putting an end to the pro-Ravalomanana demonstrations.

The first legalistic thesis seems currently closer to reality. From the very first hours following the discovery of the famous hand made bombs in the capital city a few days before the appointment in Addis-Ababa, the legalistic mobility denounced a manoeuvre in order not to participate in the talks and, indeed, to put an end to demonstrations in favour of Marc Ravalomanana.

It is the matador’s decision. The bull will have to be brought down. For four months, the pro-Ravalomanana demonstrators have actually put up resistance. This time, the HAT is keen on definitely closing the chapter. As to whether the operation will be a success, nothing is less certain since provincial main cities as Antsiranana and Toamasina have begun to display desire to defend “legality”. The pro-Ravalomanana voice has indeed begun to resonate.
