The ONTM bound to start its relaunch plan

The newly founded Task Force aiming to put the sector back on its feet has already achieved the necessary to boost the recovery. According to Joel Randriamandranto, step one has been to convince embassies to alter the negative statements concerning tourist trips to Madagascar.

Foreign offices’ web sites now favour Madagascar for travellers. “Recommendations have changed, tourists are no more hindered to come to Madagascar” said the head of ONTM. Task Force’s step two was the tightening of the cooperation with security forces to secure tourist circuits.

The tourist sector relaunch plan will be financed by fund suppliers’ 600 000 euros. The strategy has 5 main points, beginning with reassuring tourists. Road shows and educational tours will be organized to strengthen links with international operators in order to have Madagascar well placed in the 2009-2010 program.

Point three of the relaunch plan, reinforcement of foreign partners’ confidence. The ONTM would have promotional offers for individual seaside tourists. Last Point five will be the development of local tourism.
