Following the confirmation of four cases of swine flu in Antananarivo, the capital city drugstores noticed a genuine rush on the drug used to treat the disease, despite a skyrocketing price.

the Tamiflu rush

The treatment of  swine flu is normally covered by the state in Madagascar, in order to avoid a possible quick spread of the disease.

For the sake of prudence, the capital city’s wealthy layer preferred to rush on drugstores to purchase Tamiflu, medicine used for the treatment of the so-called swine flu.

Four cases of swine flu have, so far, been confirmed in Madagascar. The risks of a pandemic are although quite significant especially in the capital city, Antananarivo, considering congestion and the lack of hygiene in many of the city’s districts.

Still though, panic hasn’t yet reached the majority of the population, in spite of the confirmation of the presence of the disease on Malagasy soil.

The healthcare authorities asserted that means to face up to swine flu have already been available for a short while.
