The MFM resents, Manandafy is still in jail

Since Manandafy Rakotonirina’s refusal to sign some commitment letters as required by Republic’s procurator, the MFM party is beginning to scold. “The Rajoelina mobility is imposing conditions to political prisoners “, denounced Rapelanoro, the party’s political office member. The founder of the MFM arrested for usurpation of power as being the legalistic Prime minister, is refusing to come out in such circumstances. 

“We are not going to participate in the second meeting in Maputo unless all prisoners, including Manandafy Rakotonirina are released”, warned Rapelanoro. The HAT Justice Minister immediately reacted to such statement. 

“Manandafy Rakotonirina is indeed acting against the Maputo agreements”, replied Christine Razanamahasoa. She explained that political prisoners’ commitments are be valid until the adoption of the amnesty law. 

For the MFM party, the priority is the unconditional release of Manandafy Rakotonirina. Such demand is allegedly coming up against procedures qualified by minister Razanamahasoa as capitalization of the Maputo agreement. 

On the political plan, the MFM is sticking to a couple of main points. First, Manandafy’s party is asking for the setting up of a genuine government for the transition toward democracy. It is, besides, expressing some doubts on the fact that a putsch could eventually lead to the foundation of a democratic republic’s basis. 

Second, the MFM is longing for a democratic purification of the political profession in the country. The “legalistic” party is denouncing the Rajoelina mobility’s attitude, and particularly the Forces for Change tendency which is campaigning against the Maputo agreements. 

The MFM political office is estimating that such destabilization manoeuvre should not be part of the democratic game anymore, and insisting on the relevance of the respect of given words and signed deals. 

The MFM also speeds up throughout the regions. In the Vakinankaratra, militants are mobilizing with allies as the ALDR party. In a joined statement, they announced that they are sceptical about how realistic could the setting up of a consensual and inclusive transition be. 

“Now that the transition’s regime is not yet installed, the Maputo agreements are already violated”, noticed the MFM. The party is rejecting a certain mobility’s victory claim due to a very selfish interpretation of the political negotiations in Mozambique. The party is regretting that some political groupings have been calling upon soldiers to contest the Maputo agreements. 

The MFM is one of the rare rising voices to defend the Maputo agreements. In the Rajoelina mobility, civil society representatives, army officials, as well as party chiefs are altogether denouncing the political agreements which made TGV passengers drop many gains. In any case, according to the party of Manandafy”, a genuine transition would be more a dream than a reality, and democratic elections would be compromised”, if the foundations of Maputo I are destroyed.
